About Us

Tru Essence is a family-run tea company born from a deep love of the land, the ritual of tea, and the joy of sharing a cup with those we hold dear. We offer the finest quality organic Darjeeling teas, sourced directly from the Himalayan foothills, and thoughtfully handcrafted herbal blends. Every tea we share is a tribute to connection, care, and the comforting essence of home.

An Indian couple holds their mugs and smiles at each other on a sunny day. The man is bald with a white-grey beard, and is wearing a blue and purple plaid shirt with the top button undone to show a blue V-neck T-shirt underneath. His mug is a rust-orange color. The woman is wearing a navy blue blouse with sheer sleeves and a ruffled collar. Her mug is blue and white with floral patterns.

I’ve always loved cooking. There’s something special about making food and sharing it with the people I care about. Around our table, we’ve shared countless meals, laughs, and stories—but no matter what, there was always a pot of tea nearby. Tea has been part of our family’s rhythm for as long as I can remember. It brings us together.

A few years ago, my wife Nidhi started making her own herbal tea blends. One of her first creations, what we now call Saffron Serenity, was a beautiful mix of warmth and calm. She made it for herself, then for our kids, and soon friends and family were asking for it too. That’s when we knew we were onto something, and decided to explore tea more deeply.

Two Indian men are observing their Darjeeling tea leaves. The man on the left has white hair and is wearing a black apron over a black sleeveless undershirt. The man on the right is bald with a grey and white moustache and goatee. He is wearing thick black glasses, a blue patterned collared shirt, and a white apron that says "Rimpocha"

Our journey led us to Darjeeling, where I met Rajah Banerjee, a visionary tea grower and environmentalist. With his help, we connected with small tea farms in the Himalayan region. These farms are 100% organic and follow sustainable practices, using clean energy and natural composting to care for the land. Even more inspiring, many of the farmers we work with are women. Strong, skilled, and leading the way toward a more balanced future for tea.

Tru Essence was born from this blend of passion, purpose, and connection. From our hearts, from the fresh tea farms, to your kitchen table.
